BMZ equipment modernization

Berezniki mechanical works is updating its machinery equipment. New high-performance equipment is already used to produce parts as per EuroChem Group orders as a part of large-scale complex development program.

At the end of the year, the new unique heavy duty lathe series GEMINIS GHT9 D4 was installed in mechanical workshop made by GORATU, Spain. This 40-tones machine can produce huge variety of metal shaft-type parts up to 8 m length, necessary for drive pulleys of the mining belt conveyors. BMZ specialists assembled the heavy duty lathe and GORATU representatives commissioned the machine. The total cost of the machine was about 1 Mln. Euros.

- There is no analogue in Berezniki. Machine equipped with modern CNC made by German company Siemens. Finished parts stand out for high precision and superior surface quality. Moreover, lathe has additional grinding device to achieve dimensional tolerance to thousand shares of millimeter. That enables to perform full range of turning and grinding operations with round details, - said Pavel Novgorodov, Head of the department of Development and new equipment, JSC Berezniki mechanical works.

 Programming of the lathe is the outstanding feature of machine. Specialist insert the program and equipment operates in autonomous mode.

-I have been working for 6 months on this lathe. It is very safe, robust, has user-friendly interface of the software. It takes approximately 2 to 4 hours to process the detail, mainly shafts and pulleys. Specialists from GORATU organized training to operate on this hi-tech equipment. It’s pleasure working on modern and brand new equipment, - said Artem Nikonov, CNC machines operator, JSC Berezniki mechanical works. 

Within the framework of the modernization program, new revolutionary machine will be installed in BMZ. Multifunctional 5-axis milling machining center can replace the whole equipment group. It is possible to mill, shape and drill of holes of different diameters of any complex configuration and to micron close precision in one operation. Foundation for new machine is already prepared. Assembly of the equipment should start shortly.

Multifunctional milling machine GRATA is an advanced equipment that enables the high working accuracy by heads traveling in five axes. Machine is equipped with variable automatically changed machining heads. Milling machine Grata has two worktables: stationary table 6x3 meters and rotary table 3x3 meters. The working part of the machine travels along the fixed steady part, and process three outer sides and inner space of the part. Overall machine length is 11 meters and maximal size of workpiece is 8x3x3m (LWH) that is comparable to 14-tones dumper KAMAZ-6520.
-Working conditions have changed greatly for the better. Equipment is being updated. Company is trying to do everything to ensure the healthy working conditions of the team. Toilet facilities, server rooms and utility rooms are being repaired, - said Olga Yazeva, technician of mechanical workshop.
Due to modernization of the machinery equipment and mastering of new unique equipment Berezniki Mechanical Works will soon become a modern enterprise with wide production line of mining engineering products, as well as the main supplier of non-standard parts for its repair.
